Laser Skin Resurfacing
Has aging or too much time soaking up the sun left its mark on you? Wrinkles, fine lines, brown spots, and other skin blemishes are now reversible thanks to advanced laser skin resurfacing. This wildly popular aesthetic procedure uses light energy to produce controlled damage to your skin, promoting natural skin remodeling and collagen production.
Ablative vs. Non-Ablative
There are two types of laser skin resurfacing treatments: ablative laser skin resurfacing and non-ablative laser skin resurfacing (the Celebrity Peel™). Ablative laser treatment impacts the outer layers of skin, which leads to skin remodeling and an increase in collagen production. This treatment is great for treating visible signs of aging like deep wrinkles, acne scarring, and pigmentation. Ablative laser treatment requires longer recovery than non-ablative laser treatment, about 1 to 2 weeks.
Non-ablative laser treatments are less invasive than ablative treatment and only heats up the lower layer of skin without actually damaging it. This treatment stimulates your skin’s collagen production and is great for targeting fine lines and imperfections. Patients benefit from almost no downtime with non-ablative treatment. However, multiple sessions are usually necessary to achieve effects that are accomplished with just one ablative treatment.
Astanza’s DermaBlate Erbium:YAG laser delivers a full-range of skin resurfacing applications, both full ablative and light non-ablative, thanks to its adjustable pulse length and varying depths of treatment.
The Procedure
A typical laser skin resurfacing treatment can take anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. An Erbium or CO2 laser emits a light that is capable of vaporizing or heating the superficial layers of skin and softening wrinkles and other blemishes. This process leads to the destruction of skin tissue and the natural regeneration of healthy skin cells and collagen production.
Patients have experienced safer treatment, fewer unwanted side effects, and significantly shorter healing time with our DermaBlate Erbium:YAG laser than CO2 lasers.
Typical Results
Patients will see great results with both ablative and non-ablative laser skin resurfacing, including improvements in skin texture and appearance, elasticity, and removal of unwanted skin blemishes and signs of aging. Patients may see some unsightly dark marks immediately following treatment, but these will disappear over the weeks following treatment.
Final results will show tighter skin, smoother complexion, and heavily reduced deep wrinkles, and the disappearance of fine lines and small wrinkles. With non-ablative skin resurfacing, patients may see a few years taken off their face while ablative skin resurfacing patients may experience a decade of age removed from their appearance.
