The Science Behind The Treatment
Both wavelengths work together to treat the deepest hair follicles and remove unwanted hair. The primary wavelength, 810 nm, targets melanin chromophore, which travels down the hair shaft follicle to distribute heat pulse. The second wavelength, 940 nm, utilizes a smaller peak absorption in hemoglobin chromophores. This utilization of two wavelengths allows total reduction of hair growth, as it stops essential nutrients from getting to the follicle.
Since hair grows in a cycle, multiple treatments are required for every patient, as hair removal is only effective during the active growth stage. The three phases in the growth cycle are the anagen phase, the catagen phase, and the telogen phase. For a treatment to be successful and achieve long-lasting results, a practitioner should target the hair during the anagen phase (growth stage).
